– Review

The story of ’83’ is no surprise and it is about the Indian cricket team’s journey during the 1983 world cup which changed the face of the sport in the country.

Director Kabhir Khan has not just focused on the action on the field but also the emotions that ran through the team during their entire journey.

One of the major highlights of the film is the match between India and Zimbabwe held on 18 June 1983. The match was not telecast on TV as the BBC channel was on strike on that day. The team has captured this match and has recreated it beautifully.

Kabhir Khan has also inserted actual TV interviews of the players in the film which makes it easier for the people to relate to the incidents.

Casting is one of the major positives of the movie as each role is played by an actor closely resembling the actual player.

Ranveer Singh as Kapil Dev is extraordinary in the role. He alone does not hog the limelight, each player gets their own moment in the film which makes it enjoyable. Jiiva as Krishnamachari Srikanth is lively and energetic.

Music by Julius Packiam keeps the audience interested in every sequence.
