Personally, when MCU first showed what Wakanda’s reality was, I, an MCU fan, just wanted to be there. Everything about that place was so magical and surreal. It was protected by Black Panther, also known as T’Challa. Chadwick Boseman was perfectly suited to play the superhero. But after his untimely passing, we all wondered who would wear the cloak? We’re so glad the producers came up with the idea of having Shuri, T’Challa’s sister, play the Black Panther. Not only is she fierce and confident, but she’s also intelligent, smart, tech-savvy and a skilled fighter. Everything went great. Production for the film had begun. However, actress Letitia Wright, who plays Shuri, had an accident. As a result, production came to a standstill. Check out what Kevin Fiege has to say:
Black Panther 2: Letitia Wright’s Injuries Are Much More Serious Than We Thought
Who else can replace Chadwick Boseman as the Black Panther? Sure, his on-screen sister, Shuri. We all saw how brave and fierce she was. She, like his family, was always committed to protecting Wakanda and the Earth. When it came time to protect her home, she did everything she could to all her capacity. Therefore, Shuri, the Black Panther, makes perfect sense. Letitia Wright plays Shuri. Production started and all went well until Letitia had an accident. This led to a production stoppage.
Earlier it was said that the accident was not big. However, she was hospitalized and suffered a broken shoulder and concussion during the incident. But it doesn’t seem like the injuries weren’t serious. It was announced that Black Panther: Wakanda Forever would be on hiatus soon. Why? That’s because Letitia’s injuries were much more serious than we thought.
A spokesperson for Letitia said:Letitia has been recovering from injuries on the set of Black Panther 2 in London since September and looks forward to returning to work in early 2022.”
What Kevin Fiege has to say about the situation?
Kevin Fiege said: “Running a production of this magnitude in the midst of a pandemic is no easy task, and you have remained diligent and professional throughout,He further said:Letitia had a terrifying accident on our set during a stunt in August. What we initially thought were minor injuries turned out to be much more serious with Letitia with a critical shoulder fracture and a concussion with serious side effects. It has been a painful process and Letitia is recovering at home with her doctors and the support of family.”
They can’t do much without Letitia, as she plays the main role. So they decided to pause production in the meantime. Production will hopefully resume in January 2022. Another thing that could hinder the resumption of production is that non-citizens flying to the US must be fully vaccinated. However, Letitia is not vaccinated. Meanwhile, she recovers in London. So it’s unclear if she’ll be able to travel to the US for the shoot next year!
