Exclusive: Ajay Devgn’s ‘Maidaan’ will resume in January, special Football set to be rebuilt – Times of India

Ajay Devgn’s upcoming sports drama film ‘Maidaan’ will be back on track after two months from now. A decision in this regard has been taken by Zee Studios and Boney Kapoor, who are jointly producing the film. The Amit Ravidrenath Sharma directorial, which features Priyamani in the female lead role, will go back on floors in the third week of January 2021.

The huge set, involving the football arena, on the outskirts of Mumbai that had been dismantled after COVID-19 struck and will now be rebuilt on a 16 acre land, again on the city’s outskirts. The work will begin in the second week of December. Of course this will incur a huge extra cost but there’s no other way that this movie can go ahead.

The original set had been brought down with a heavy heart in June-July 2020 after the rains came down and there was no sign of Coronavirus abetting. Ironically, the health scare seems to be on a savage attack again and there’s a strong buzz about a second wave hitting in near future. Fingers crossed and with a prayer in the heart like the film industry has restarted, this Bollywood film bears no exception. ‘Maidaan’ also stars Gajraj Rao in a very important role.
