Aadhi Sai Kumar - Sashi Movie Review

What is the movie about?
Raj aka Rajkumar (Aadi) is an angry and grumpy man, but with a good heart. His family includes his mother, brother and sister. They try their best to understand him, but Raj doesn’t change his way.

One day Raj gets an unexpected look at Sashi (Surabhi) in a temple. He changes his attitude when she’s around, but she doesn’t recognize him. What happens when Raj confronts Sashi? Who is she and why is Raj the way he is? How his story ends up is what the movie is about?

How are Aadhi’s achievements?
After a hole, Aadi is back on the big screen. He comes up with a role that is in his field of youth and love. Of course there is a difference here because we also see a lot of fear.

Aadi is decent as usual. He goes through the procedure with ease. The problem is, it lacks any remarkable or memorable quality. There is nothing in it that makes the act stand out. The angry youth part looks decent at best. The full-grown beard does not suit him well. The emotional sequences are routine and he’s done much better in the past.

Srinivas Naidu Nadikatla

Directed by Srinivas Naidu?
Srinivas Naidu directs Sashi. The story of the film is terribly routine and outdated. Still, he manages to maintain interest to some extent.

Sashi is about Rajkumar. He’s angry and frustrated about something and has turned him into an alcoholic. The relationship with his family, especially the older brother, suffers as a result.

Raj, however, is not completely insufferable. At the same time, it has a number of good qualities. He is part of a band and the members get along well with him. The whole story between these two different worlds creates intrigue as to why Raj behaves this way.

We see a lot of build ups and then the heroine comes on the scene to add further to the confusion. While nothing else happens story-wise, the tension about the latter drives the proceedings. The interval bang is good and one hopes to get clarity and some drama in the second half.

What unfortunately happens in the second half is a buzz killer. The procedure is completely routine and trite. The comedy doesn’t work. The emotions are forced and lack any natural flow.

But the biggest disappointment is the incident involving the heroine. After all the build-up, it is bubbling out. People remain baffled by the sheer banality of it all.

The sad thing is that the procedure is further expanded with extraordinarily contrived emotions and situations. They are very routine and commonplace. You might as well walk away after knowing the real cause and they wouldn’t miss much.

Ultimately, Sashi is a routine and outdated love story with predictable and artificial emotions. There is nothing fresh in the movie except the music. If you’ve seen enough love stories, Sashi can be easily skipped.

Surabhi - Sashi Telugu Movie Review

Surabhi and others?
Surabhi has an ungrateful role despite the fact that there are two colors in it. The actress is okay with the routine part of the two. Rajeev Kanakala exaggerates the emotions in a dull and forgetful part. Jayaprakash has a decent role, but this one is treated badly.

Ajay and others, including the comic gang, have no real flourish to make an impact. They are also weak and have no real meat in front of them.

Music and other departments?
Music is the only department that makes an impression. The songs are fine. The background score is exaggerated. The cinematography is fine for the most part. It has the correct realistic quality in parts. The editing could have been better, especially at the start and in the second half. The writing is generally weak, apart from a few dialogues by the hero.

Take alternative
Reducing the predictable quotient and giving the hero-heroine flashback a different spin with respect to the present time would certainly have changed the current impression.
