Tisca Chopra recently presented a new episode of her popular chat show Tête-à-Tête with Tisca Chopra featuring Pankaj Tripathi. The two discussed how acting in front of the stage is different from acting in front of the camera, and Tisca Chopra just couldn’t resist sharing a hilarious anecdote about the legendary Irrfan Khan.
During the show, Tisca Chopra revealed that she did not start her career in theater. After making her first film, she went to theater for more than 5 years. Only after that, when she made a big return to movies and that too with a movie alongside Irrfan Khan called Qissa, did this hilarious conversation take place.

“I was shooting this movie with Irrfan named Qissa. I had done theater for 5 years and then I returned to movies with this film. Irrfan started to tell me, ‘Why are you acting so loud?’ Then I realized I was expressing myself excessively. Then I had to take a moment to recalibrate myself in front of the camera,” said Tisca Chopra, explaining that performing on stage is very different from performing in front of the camera.
Tisca Chopra also went on to say that actors in the theater often have to speak the dialogue loudly so that even the last row of the room can listen to the conversation. However, while shooting for a movie, actors are usually asked to narrate the dialogues according to the positioning and placement of the character the dialogue is being said to.
Well, Irrfan Khan was one of the best actors who had excelled in both theaters and movies in equal measure. Indeed, such words of advice for such a legend meant a lot to Tisca Chopra, who remembers them even after so many years.
